2009-2010
The DEN ended the 2010-2011 school year with a "Light Up The Night" Party and a trip to Dorney Park and WildWater Kingdom. The party was a ton of fun with a buffet, a DJ and of course, glow sticks to light up the night. The trip to Dorney followed a week later as students hit the wave pool, rode the roller coasters and surfed down the lazy river.
SPRING 2010
The spring of 2010 was a lot of fun at The DEN. In addition to some wonderful "giving back" projects ( see our "The DEN gives back page), we went on an Ice Skating Trip, a Miniature Golf Trip, a trip during spring break to the Museum of Natural History and a May trip to see Alvin Ailey at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. A Valentine's Day Dinner, Stress Reduction Workshop and Pool Tournament were hits as well!
WINTER WORKSHOPS
During the winter of 2010, we held several different workshops. Here are some highlights from our Hip Hop, Red Cross Babysitting Certification and Substance Abuse Prevention Workshops.
WINTER 09-10 TRIPS
In addition to other program activities, The DEN took a trip to see Avatar in 3D and went to lunch at Applebees during the holiday break. In February, students were treated to a trip to see the Harlem Globetrotters perform at Madison Square Garden in NYC.
NOVEMBER 2009
In November, The DEN took a group of students to FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology). Students viewed a film on FIT life, learned about the admissions process and had a tour of the FIT museum.
We had lots of fun in October.
Check out pictures from our Obstacle Course, trip to William Paterson for a College Fair, "What Challenges You " Day and our second annual Halloween party.
In September of 2009, The DEN started off the new school year with an Open House Party. Over 100 students attended, ate pizza, checked out The DEN and received consent forms so they could join in future events. A raffle was also held at the party and the winners won a free NYC Harbor Cruise Trip. This trip was a blast. Students learned a great deal about NYC and got up close and personal with Lady Liberty. To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, students created their own Guatemalan Worry Dolls, participated in salsa lessons and had some tastes of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
SUMMER 2009
During the summer of 2009, The DEN welcomed a group of incoming freshman to participate in some groups and activities in order to get better familiar with their high school. A big hit was our DJ program. Students had the opportunity to learn the basics of the trade from a professional DJ and even got to create their own DJ names. They also went on several trips including ESPN Zone in NY, NY.
