The DEN Gives Back
It It all started when Ms. Lia, The DEN's clinician, came into work one day after receiving an e-mail from her cousin, Liz. Liz is a solider stationed over in Afghanistan and let Lia know what it was like over there for our troops. Lia found out that they are in desparate need of items such as snacks that fit in a backpack and simple hygiene products. They would also love to have some positive entertainment to distract them from their stressful days. So, Ms. Lia brought this idea to The DEN and the program began spreading the word that The DEN staff would be collecting items to be sent overseas. In just a few weeks, donations were piling in from students and faculty of Bloomfield High School. Several staff members of Family Connections, The DEN's managing agency, donated money towards shipping costs as well. The DEN will continue to accept donations through the end of June and sincerely thanks everyone who helped out.
We wish all of our troops safety and hope to have you home soon!

STUDENTS VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME DURING SPRING BREAK
During the 2010 spring break, several students volunteered their time to spend time talking, sharing and painting with residents of a local nursing home. The residents were very happy to have the company of these teens and received pictures of themselves and the students to put inside the picture frames they painted. Some of our students have since returned to spend more of their own time with the residents.
